Campbell's was founded in the late 70's with Dick Campbell combining with Eaton Building Materials to establish the Woy Woy Branch of Eatons.
Situated in Charlton Street (now McDonald's) the company commenced trading with timber as the core business and a very small range of
In 1983, Dick Campbell decided to go it alone and with wife Diana as a fellow director, purchased the Eaton's share of the business and established what is now known as Campbell Building Materials today.
The following years unearthed many changes and challenges in the Building Industry but with Dick's foresight and adaptability to change, Campbells were able to gain and increase market share against strong competitors.
1993 heralded another major change at Campbells with Dick's son, Mark Campbell taking over the reins. Coinciding with that was the relocation of the company to Alma Avenue. Aligning the company with the John Danks Group (HoME Hardware) was another innovation in the early 90's which allowed the company greater
buying power and scope, particularly in the growing Hardware division.
1995 and another relocation, this time to the present site at Blackwall Road, Woy Woy.
Although timber was still Campbells core business, the larger premises at Blackwall Road provided the company with the opportunity to introduce thousands of new lines and expand existing stock in the
Hardware and Paint divisions.
The year 2000 created another chapter in Campbells history with the acquisition of the Mackies yard in Rawson Road, Woy Woy.
This location is used as a storage facility for bulk timber, Hardies Products, Garden Products etc to back up the Blackwall Road premises. Trucks are also loaded from Rawson Road for deliveries.
Campbells growth can be attributed to the visions of the Campbell Family and the company's management and staff who have worked hard to ensure our customers get value for money, quality products at competitive prices and good old fashioned service.
